Creating a short film used to require cameras, actors, locations, editing software, and a full production setup. Today, AI tools make the process much easier. If you are wondering how to create a short film using AI, the main idea is simple: start with a clear story, turn it into a structured shooting script, generate scenes, refine each clip, and combine everything into one final video. Pippit helps with this workflow through its Story Creation feature, where you can move from a simple film idea to a storyboard and then generate AI video clips scene by scene.

What do you need before creating an AI short film?

A clear story idea

Start with one simple concept. It can be a short drama, horror scene, fantasy moment, survival story, emotional clip, or cinematic product idea.

A visual direction

Think about the look of your short film. Do you want it to feel realistic, animated, cinematic, dark, warm, futuristic, or fantasy-style?

Character and setting details

AI works better when you describe the main character, location, mood, costume, lighting, and action clearly.

A target format

Choose where you want to publish the final video. Use 16:9 for a cinematic short film or 9:16 for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

Why use Pippit to create a short film using AI?

Pippit is useful because it does not only generate one random video from a prompt. It helps you plan the short film first. You can start with a film idea, create a shooting script, review the storyboard, generate each clip, and render the full video.

This makes the process more organized. Instead of relying on one broad prompt, you can build the story step by step. You can also check every scene before the final video is created, which helps your AI short film feel more polished and complete.

    step 1
  1. Open Shooting Script and add your film idea

Log in to Pippit and go to the Home page. Under the main prompt box, open the Story Creation tab and select Shooting Script. This opens a creative panel where you can add your short film idea.

In the Theme section, enter a clear concept. For example, you can write a short drama, horror scene, survival story, fantasy moment, or cinematic product idea. You can also upload reference images to guide the character's look, setting, mood, or visual style.

Choose the video length, such as under 15 seconds, 15–30 seconds, 45–60 seconds, 1–2 minutes, or over 2 minutes. Then click Generate to create the shooting script. If you want to improve the idea first, use the Edit prompt before generating.

    step 2
  1. Choose the film format and visual style

Next, set the basic look of your AI short film. Choose the aspect ratio according to where the video will be used. Pick 16:9 if you want a cinematic widescreen film, or choose 9:16 if the video is for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.

After that, select the visual style. A realistic cinematic style is a good option for film-like scenes, while anime or 3D animation can work better for creative stories. You can also add more details about the scene, such as the location, time of day, lighting, character mood, camera movement, and overall story tone.

Once the setup matches your idea, confirm the settings so Pippit can prepare the story structure.

    step 3
  1. Check the storyboard before creating clips

Pippit will now turn your idea into a storyboard. This storyboard breaks your short film into smaller scenes, so you can see how the story will move from one moment to the next.

Open the storyboard and review each scene carefully. Check the scene title, visual description, action, timing, camera angle, and mood. This step is important because each storyboard section will later become a separate AI-generated video clip.

If any scene feels weak, unclear, or different from your original idea, adjust it before moving ahead. A better storyboard will give you a cleaner final short film.

    step 4
  1. Generate each scene and improve the results

After reviewing the storyboard, start generating the clips one by one. Each scene will have its own generation option, so you can turn the written direction into a visual video clip.

Watch every generated clip before accepting it. Look at the character style, background, lighting, movement, camera angle, and emotional tone. If a clip does not match the story, regenerate it or open the editing tools to improve it.

This step helps you keep the full short film consistent instead of mixing clips that feel disconnected.

    step 5
  1. Combine the clips and export the final film

When all scenes are ready, use the render option to combine them into one complete AI short film. Watch the full video from start to finish and check whether the scenes connect smoothly.

If everything looks good, download the final video to your device. You can also add a caption, schedule the post, or publish it directly on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook.

At this point, your short film is complete, from a basic idea to a finished AI-generated video.
