A product-in-hand video can fail even when the face looks realistic. The object may grow between shots, drift away from the palm, or change shape during a turn. I built this ai character test around a fictional cobalt hand-crank lantern because its mug-sized body, white front panel, and silver crank create three clear scale references.

The Reference Image Carries the Measurement
I asked for a full-body adult presenter so the lantern could be compared with both hands, torso width, and jacket pockets. The campsite at blue hour provides contrast without introducing brand elements. Both hands stay visible, which gives the later animation a credible starting grip.

I Chose One Transfer, Not a Feature Montage
The second character option became the sole reference. The presenter begins with a two-hand hold, transfers the lantern to his right hand, turns it only 20 degrees, and returns to the original hold as the front panel glows. That single transfer reveals the crank while keeping the product near the same body reference.
Exact Product-in-Hand Motion Prompt
Use the second generated character reference as the sole visual reference and create a new 9-second 9:16 product-in-hand video. The lantern remains close to mug scale in the sampled frames. Its rectangular body, cobalt color, and white panel persist while the camera moves closer. The hand relationship changes naturally: both hands support the opening pose, the right hand carries the middle pose, and the left hand returns beneath the object at the end.
The apparent enlargement in the last frame comes mainly from a closer crop. That distinction matters. I compare the lantern against the visible hand, not only against the video frame. The hand-to-product ratio remains believable even as the presenter occupies more of the composition.
A Practical Product Size Checklist
Give the product one familiar size comparison in the prompt.
Keep fingers visible at the contact points instead of hiding the grip.
Limit rotation when only one reference view exists.
Compare product size with the same hand before and after the move.

Why the Lantern Shape Was a Useful Test Object
The lantern combines a simple rectangular body with one asymmetric detail: the crank on the right side. A plain cylinder would make rotation hard to judge, while a highly detailed device would introduce too many surfaces. Here, the front panel confirms orientation, the crank confirms the turn, and the presenter's palm confirms size.
I also kept the product close to the torso instead of extending it toward the lens. Reaching forward changes perspective dramatically and can make a stable object appear to grow. The restrained transfer tests character scale consistency under a smaller, more controllable movement.
For a second product size test, I would add a tabletop placement after the hand transfer. The table would supply another fixed scale plane and reveal whether the lantern's contact shadow agrees with its apparent weight.
